The OIJ have arrested 6 people in connection to the murder of Gerardo Cruz, stabbed just days after his social media shaming of a video voyeur on the streets of San Jose. Two of the suspects arrested were mother and daughter.
OIJ Director Walter Espinoza said that Cruz’s death was a crime of passion and unrelated to the now famous video Cruz posted on his Facebook page.
One of the women, last name Fonseca, 41, was romantically involved with Cruz until the relationship turned sour. The split prompted Fonseca and her daughter, Valerín, 19, to mastermind the alleged attack together with 3 middlemen to contract the two men suspected of killing Cruz in October 2015.
Tuesday’s arrests came after the OIJ released this video in their search for Cruz’ suspected killers.
